A Message from the Vicar, Simon Dowson
Thank you for visiting our website. I hope you have found it informative and helpful.
I have been privileged to be the vicar of Holy Trinity since April 2004 and my ongoing desire is to see the church here (and elsewhere of course!) grow in love for God, in love for one another and in love for the community which we have been called to serve, so that the Kingdom of God might grow in us and through us. It is my firm conviction that the good news of Jesus Christ is a message that everyone needs to hear, and so it is our challenge to make sure we proclaim this message with the help of the Holy Spirit in ways that are accessible to people, whoever they are.To this end we reach out to our community in a number of ways ranging from our parent and toddler group, Trinity Tots, to our ministry to older people mainly through our weekly ‘Pop In’ meeting. We also employ a full time youth and children’s worker part of whose ministry is in local schools (as well as of course helping ensure that we run a full range of groups for our young people).
One last example is that we run what is known as the ‘Start!’ course which is an introduction to the Christian faith for those who want to find out more (details of all these things and much else besides can be found elsewhere on the website).
In addition we are also committed to helping people become disciples rather than just followers of Jesus. Basically this means helping people of all ages not just come to faith but to grow in their relationship with Jesus and equipping them to serve him in every area of their lives. Thus our services contain biblical teaching and we encourage everyone to become a member of a ‘home group’ where we learn from the Scriptures in a more informal and interactive way.’ Another way we encourage people to grow as disciples is by taking a group to the New Wine Summer Conference every year where we are able to hear a wide range of quality teaching.
I could mention much else besides but the bottom line is that whatever your age or background, and wherever you find yourself on your own spiritual journey, we hope that you will feel welcome at Trinity, and want to join with us in continuing to serve God, each other and our community for the sake of Christ.
If having visited our website you want to know more about the life of the church or would like to speak to one of our staff members, then the best way is to telephone or email the Church Office.
